Rachael Price
1914
During World War 1, the Turkish joined on Germany's side going by "Jihad", or, Holy War against all Christians(except allies). Military leaders argued that the Armanians were traitors, thinking they just wanted to be on the side that would win the war so they could get something out of it(money, power, land, etc). This allience ended when the Government pushed for removal from war zones along the Eastern Front. The Ottoman Empire had began to collapse, and everyone wanted a piece.
1915
The Turkish Government arrests and executes several hundred Armenian Intels. Ordinary Armenians were sent on death marches without food or water. People were then stripped nude to walk in the scorching sun until they dropped dead, those who lived through it were shot. Hundreds of thousands
of women, old men and children were deported south to
Cilicia and Syria. Armenians then asked the German
Ambassador in Constantinople for formal German protection,
but it was rejected in fear that it would offend the Turkish
Government. By April 19th, more than 50,000 Armenians
had been murdered in the Van province.
Young Turkish people created a "special organization"
which turn into "killing squads" to "carry out liquidation
of all Christian elements".
1916
In a period of two and a half days, 1,029 Armenians die of the rigors of the deportations in the town of Bab. 50,000 Armenians remnants are reported concentrated at Intille. Families and children ordered to be deported to the desert by The Interior Ministy to run railways.
Orphans are killed.
In 47 days, 364,500/486,000 have been reported killed by the Turkish or by the hardships of the deportations. The War Ministry orders all Armenian soldiers remaining alive in the Turkish armies to be converted to Islam and to be circumcised. Only 10% of the Armenian deportees remain alive, but Turkish plan on killing them, too.
1917
Earnest E. Cristoffel(German missionary) witnessed massacres and deportations estimated that about one million Armenians had been murdered. Only about 10% of Armenians could do work due to their conditions. 45,000 deportees are reported living in dire conditions. 10,000 of these people are woman, most of the rest are orphaned children. America offers to help aid the Armenians the Turkish had kept, but they decline the offer. About one month later, the Turkish break their relationship with the United States. The Turkish Government order the Turkification and Islamization of the surviving Armenian Catholics.
1918
OTTOMAN'S EMPIRE SURRENDERED.
Leaders of Turks flee to Germany(who promised not
to prosecute for Genocide). Envers order killing all
civillians of Armenians over five years old within 48
hours. Germany tries to stop them from commiting this
massacre, but fail. Turkish then force 14,000
Armenians to become slaves to take care of the bodies
of their own people.
1919
Dr. Reshid, former governor-general of Diyarbekir
Province and a major war criminal, commits suicide.
Trials and massacres continue to be held, 13 trials
held, each one involving a massacre. Much more than
this happened during this time but, it mostly revolved
around people. Go to the "important people" tab to

1920
10,000 Armenians massacred in Marash. United States President Woodrow Wilson receives an invitation from the San Remo Conference to determine the borders of Armenia. Three days later, the USA officially recognizes the Independent Republic of Armenia. The French and Turkish Nationalists agree to an armistice(a truce). Of 10,000 Armenians living in Hadjin, only 480 survive a massacre by Turkish Nationalist forces. President Woodrow Wilson presents his delineation of the borders of Armenia. A week later Armenia is partitioned by Turkish Nationalist forces and Sovietized by Russian Bolsheviks. Then, the trial on the massacres in Mosul begins.
In 1922, the Genocide ends with only 388,000 Armenians remaining in the Ottoman Empire and, till this day the Turkish continue to ignore that the Genocie ever happened.

Importance to the Turkish/Armenian people
Because of the Armenian Genocide, the Armenians were robbed of their 3000 year old hertiage, the destructions of their churches and libraries. Basically erasing this ancient civilization. Armenian homeland, most of their cultural symbols, schools, monasteries, artistic monuments, historial sites were all destroyed by the Ottoman Empire. Only to save their memories. Losing about 1,500,000 people and severing the onnection between the Armenian people and their historical homeland.
